Yahoo acquires IndexTools' analytics business

April 9, 2008, 01:42 PM —  IDG News Service —

Yahoo continues to make
moves as Microsoft
tries to acquire the company
. Today it announced an agreement to purchase
substantially all of the assets of Tensa Kft, more commonly known as IndexTools.

The acquisition includes IndexTools' Web analytics business and technology
as well as its Tensa R&D Kft. subsidiary, according to a statement from
Yahoo.

Yahoo isn't divulging how much it's paying, but the deal is expected to be
completed in the first half of 2008.

What Yahoo wants is IndexTools' technology for analyzing client's online marketing
efforts.

It will extend Yahoo's current analytics platform by adding capabilities to
deliver insights and metrics for online campaigns that run across Yahoo's entire
network, according to Yahoo.

Additional capabilities will enable third-party developers to monitor and optimize
the traffic performance of their applications.

Small-to-medium sized businesses are Yahoo's first target.

This is the second time this week that Yahoo has made a significant announcement.
Monday it said that it will have a Web-based system in place to buy online ad
space across some 600 newspapers and other online sites as soon as July.
