To be a channel member, or sell through a distributor?

CA is making some major changes to its North American channel program according to recent news reports, and will focus on platinum and gold partners--while letting others that haven't achieved that status work through distributors.

CA does make heavy use of its channel and there's no indication that it's going to stop doing so. The deal will let CA make better use of its distributors.

Mozilla has renewed an agreement with Google Inc. that pays the browser maker for assigning Google's search engine as Firefox's default, Mozilla's former CEO said this week.

Toshiba's XDE DVD players won't hurt Blu-ray Disc

When Toshiba announced its new XDE DVD player promising it could convert the picture quality of standard DVDs up to the HD, industry watchers took note. The company has been a champion of video technologies for years and its own high definition disc standard, HD DVD (high definition DVD), had been beaten as the HD successor to DVDs earlier in the year by Sony's Blu-ray Disc standard.
