Norton 2009 Update is locking up Computers!
Started getting phone calls about locked and frozen PCs after installing the newest update to Norton's 2009 Internet Security.
Symantec has nothing posted on it yet. So, I've posted a temporary workaround to get you into your computer if you're frozen.

Why don't I see the work around??
I had this problem with my own computer last year, and now my father in law's computer is all locked up and we can't get it to do a thing, and I have no idea how to fix this. I tried talking with the tech from Symantec, however, all he did was give me a removal tool, but the system is locked up and there is no way to excecute the tool to begin with. What can I do?Complete system failure due to Norton 2009 Update
I too have had this problem. It promted me to download the updated version. Deleted the older version off my pc and installed the newer version.Right from the restart I began to have major problems with software and internet.
With-in days the system completely crashed not allowing me to even start up windows or do a recovery.
Norton will be deleted and never used again.
